Der Moment, wenn du erfährst du bist schwanger

The moment you find out you're pregnant

Hello dear moms,

This is Bianca, and today I want to share some funny and real emotions I experienced during my pregnancy—and I'm sure I'm not the only one! If you're reading this, you're most likely already a mother, pregnant, or planning to become one in the future. But no matter what your situation is, some of the following emotions will sound very, very familiar 😉

Perhaps you were surprised by your little bundle of joy, perhaps you'd been trying for a long time, or perhaps your plan worked perfectly – no matter which category you fall into – the feelings associated with finding out you're pregnant are all quite similar. We often go through a whirlwind of emotions, a rollercoaster of feelings, certainly a little different for everyone, but ultimately filled with immense happiness.

Is it true?

Oh, wow! So you took a test, and it's positive. Can that be? Is the test real? Am I dreaming? If you've been trying to conceive, or if it's a surprise, at first it feels crazy and surreal. Am I really pregnant? Your body looks the same, and you probably still feel normal. Especially in the early stages, this can be really confusing, can't it?

The excitement

Okay – it's real. I'm pregnant. You're slowly getting used to the fact that you're going to be a mom. You have pregnancy symptoms, maybe you've even had your first ultrasound. The proof is there. You start seeing and examining countless babies and baby products more closely, and you begin to imagine what your journey with your baby will be like. Your attention shifts to completely new topics that were so abstract just a short time ago!

Doubt

Your baby is growing, your belly is growing, your life is slowly beginning to change, and you've started buying the first baby things and maybe even setting up the nursery. The nesting instinct is in full swing. And then it hits you! Will I be a good mother? Will my baby be healthy? What if...? What should I do with him/her? Your mind starts playing tricks on you, and you feel a little afraid of the unknown. If it's your second baby, you might have thoughts like: "How can I love them both equally?" or "Will they feel left out?"

The emotional rollercoaster

You're on an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you feel beautiful with your belly and its incredible power to create life. The next minute you want to burst into tears because you can't grab the chocolate you dropped on the floor after your tenth trip to the bathroom at 10 a.m.

The impatience

You're slowly approaching the end of your pregnancy. For some, it's shorter, for others a little longer than the usual 38-40 weeks. You're getting impatient and frustrated. You've spent almost nine months thinking about it, building up excitement, and preparing to meet your little miracle. Now you're tired, you feel uncomfortable, you feel heavy, your clothes are really tight and boring, you miss being energetic, and all you really want to do now is meet your sweet baby. You're probably not getting much sleep either and are looking for the slightest sign that labor is approaching!

When your moment arrives, you'll find that most of those thoughts and feelings were unnecessary. Your anxieties and fears will fade as you embark on your beautiful journey of motherhood, and you'll discover that the next part of your journey is also filled with a different bundle of feelings and questions.

The reason I want to tell you this is to remind you that all these emotions and all the different stages you're going through are normal. You don't always have to feel on top of the world, and you don't have to have figured everything out.

Raising a baby is hard work. Let me remind you that you've created a human being. It's perfectly normal to feel exhausted, anxious, emotional, and whatever else you might be feeling. Be gentle with yourself and make sure you embrace all of these moments and take time for yourself. It's so important to take care of your own well-being before and after becoming a mom—you can read more about this topic here .

We at Rookie wish you a pregnancy full of love and well-being,

Until next time x
