Becoming a mother or father is a wonderful experience! - However, we often tend to focus all our love and energy on our children, while forgetting ourselves and even our partners.
Every day should be a day of love, but today we want to remind you especially to LOVE YOURSELF.
It's impossible to love fully and give our all if we're always drawing from an empty glass. Taking time for ourselves, but also for our partner, is so important when you become a parent. We often tend to lose ourselves a little in the role of mom or dad. We often feel guilty when we ask for help—but it's so crucial.
We need to normalize "me time." Every single parent deserves and needs time to do something they truly love! We all love our babies, but there are still parts of ourselves that need nurturing outside of parenthood.
When was the last time you did something for yourself? When was the last time you looked in the mirror and thought, "I love myself"? How often do you take time to be honest with yourself and your current feelings? Do you have a hobby where you can be yourself and step out of your role as a mom or dad? Do you find time to be alone with your partner, like you used to? Do you ever have time for yourself?
I suspect most of us would answer "it's been a while" or "never." That's probably because you're a great mom/dad! However, that doesn't mean you can't find time to love yourself.
Below you will find some tips and ideas on how to grow into the best version of yourself, so that you feel so good that you are able to give everything for your family!
- Set aside at least one day a week to do something you love. This could be yoga, sports, painting, etc.
- Take at least 30 minutes a day to meditate, breathe, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee in peace. Whatever makes you happy and where you feel rested and alive.
- Ask someone to look after the children at least once a month, and make a date night with your partner a tradition! Weekly would be even better. Your partner misses you just as much as you miss them!
- Love yourself. Love who you've become. Love your new body. Love how your life has changed. This is your purpose, and you are amazing at what you do!
We wish you a wonderful Valentine's Day and send you a big hug!
