Pregnancy is probably the most exciting event in a woman's life - associated with high physical stress.
Hormones fluctuate wildly, and the body works overtime to nourish a tiny human being. Many women's skin, in particular, can suffer during pregnancy.
If the skin stretches too quickly during pregnancy, for example due to rapid weight gain during pregnancy, tears can occur in the subcutaneous tissue.
These bluish-red streaks can appear in various places. But how can you prevent them?
Here are a few tips from mothers and midwives:
A healthy and balanced diet
Connective tissue can be supported by the trace elements copper (found in liver, fish, nuts, and legumes) and manganese (oatmeal, whole-wheat flour, and lentils). Vitamin C (e.g., in citrus fruits, kale, and bell peppers) strengthens the immune system and contributes to normal collagen formation.
Healthy weight gain
During pregnancy, weight gain should not exceed the recommended 11-15 kg. Increased body circumference puts more strain on the skin. However, dieting should not be undertaken during pregnancy.
Adequate fluid intake
Especially during pregnancy, drinking 2-3 liters of still water per day is recommended. This is particularly important for flushing out toxins. Therefore, elastic and healthy skin is directly related to hydration.
Promote blood circulation
Promoting blood circulation in the tissue is particularly recommended. This includes, for example, alternating hot and cold showers, pinching massage, or exercise and sufficient movement.
Body care
Particularly sensitive areas of the body should be kept supple daily by applying creams and oils. The skin's elasticity can be increased with certain oils, for example:
- Almond oil
- Coconut oil
- Aloe vera
