Our first offline event: A pop-up store in Berlin Mitte
You ask, we do!
Every day we get asked: “Can I try on the ROOKIE in the store?” Until now, we've always had to put you off. But we've long harbored the dream of fulfilling this wish. At the beginning of April, it finally happened: our first pop-up store. Truly offline – that was a completely new experience for us too. Because – unlike in the online world – we were able to meet you in person for the first time, offer advice, and answer your questions.
Two days full of emotions
We eagerly anticipated this day with excitement, curiosity, but also nervousness. Who would show up at our event? Would we have enough product in stock? Had we thought of everything in our planning?
Part of the Cape Town team flew to Berlin specifically for the event. After the long journey, there wasn't much time to rest, as they had to pick up pallets, assemble shelves, prepare the POS system, set up decorations, and so on. We worked at the venue until 2 a.m. We were all exhausted, but also incredibly happy. Seeing our ROOKIES on the clothing racks in a real store—we were quite proud. But then it was off to bed, because tomorrow was the big day: the store doors were scheduled to open at 10 a.m.
And we're open!
After the final morning rush to sort out the last details, the moment had finally arrived: We were ready! And so were you! We could hardly believe our eyes when we peeked through the door and saw numerous young (expectant) parents, friends, grandmothers, grandfathers, and others already queuing outside.
After a final short team briefing (we were all incredibly nervous), founder Ben personally opened the doors and greeted the crowd. Within minutes, the place was packed.
Our six-person team was kept very busy. From providing personal advice and answering questions to enjoying coffee together and having a relaxed chat. We really enjoyed it!
The day flew by. After the last customer left the shop and we started packing up, we were exhausted but really happy.
The “new question”
We were expecting it. These days you're no longer bombarding us with the question "Can I try on the ROOKIE somewhere locally?", but rather "When is your next event or are you even opening a store soon?".
