☀️ How to survive the heat with a baby

☀️ So überstehst du die Hitze mit Baby

Tips for cool heads & warm hearts

Summer is here – with all its sunshine. For us moms, that's actually wonderful… if it weren't for the sweaty baby on our chests, the overheated stroller, and the feeling of melting ourselves.

Don't worry: You are not alone.

With a few simple tips, it will be much more bearable – for your baby and for you too.

🍼 This is how to keep your baby cool

☁️ 1. Light clothing – less is more

Choose airy clothing for your baby made of muslin or organic cotton .

Too much fabric traps heat – sometimes a diaper or a light bodysuit is perfectly sufficient, especially when carrying.

🌿 2. As much shade as possible

Avoiding direct sunlight is crucial – especially between 11 am and 4 pm.

Find shady paths, use a sunshade, or simply stay in the park under the trees. Even in a stroller or on the balcony: shade is your best friend.

💦 3. Cooling down in between

A damp washcloth on the arms, legs or neck helps your baby regulate its temperature – especially after being carried or going for a walk.

🍼 4. Offer breastfeeding or bottle-feeding more frequently

Babies have an increased need for fluids , even if they don't explicitly ask for them. Regular drinking compensates for fluid loss through sweating.

👶 5. Wearing it in the heat? Yes – with the right tricks!

Wearing clothes can be beautiful even in summer – if you pay attention to a few things:

  • Organic materials instead of synthetic fibers : The Rookie Premium Elite is made of breathable organic cotton, which regulates heat and allows the skin to breathe.

  • UV protection included : The integrated headrest with UV50 provides additional protection for your baby from the sun.

  • Single-layer carrying : The fewer layers of fabric, the more comfortable. Ideally, use a carrier where your baby lies directly on your stomach – this prevents overheating.

  • Caution: Skin-on-skin contact can quickly become uncomfortable in hot weather. To prevent your skin from sticking directly to your baby while carrying them, simply place a light muslin cloth between your skin – for example, on your chest. This makes carrying more comfortable and helps to regulate temperature.

  • Plan stopovers : Short carrying sessions with small breaks in the shade will help both of you stay cool.

🌸 This is how you, as a mom, can stay cool too

We often forget about ourselves – especially in summer when it's all about the baby. But you are just as important.

🥤 1. Drink plenty of fluids – easy and everywhere

Keep water bottles within easy reach – in the living room, at the breastfeeding area, in the stroller. Cold herbal tea or infused water with lemon and mint is also beneficial.

🌬️ 2. Small cooling breaks in between

Whether it's facial spray , a wet cloth on the back of your neck, or cold water over your wrists – use mini-moments to breathe.

👕 3. Light, airy clothing

Loose tops, flowing dresses, linen trousers – the main thing is that they're breathable. You should feel comfortable, even when you're wearing clothes.

🍧 4. Small moments of pleasure

An ice pop, chilled berries, or simply five minutes with your feet in cold water – treat yourself to mini-breaks. It's good for your nerves, too.

🧘♀️ 5. Take a deep breath

Summer with a baby is intense. When it gets warm, you'll be challenged not only physically, but also emotionally.

It's okay if everything doesn't go perfectly.

You're doing a wonderful job – even with a sweaty shirt and sticky baby arms.

💛 Our conclusion:

Wearing clothes, closeness and summer – it's all possible.

With the right materials, plenty of shade, a dose of self-care and a cool drink in hand, you and your baby will get through the hot days just fine.

And the best part: Even at temperatures above 30°C, your baby can feel that it is exactly right with you.
