5 relaxation tips for moms: How to recharge your batteries in everyday life

5 Entspannungstipps für Mamas: So tankst du im Alltag neue Energie

You'd probably love to have more time for yourself, just for yourself. Unfortunately, that's often not so easy: Dad isn't there, the baby doesn't want to fall asleep and/or be held, is hungry, or has a full diaper.

I'm a mom myself and always thought I could only recharge when I was completely alone. Often, I wanted to make the most of that limited time, but in the end, it didn't feel like recharging at all. That's perfectly normal: we often take on too much and have a long productivity to-do list we're trying to work through, not just with a baby, but even without one.

Today I'd like to give you a few tips that will hopefully help you find more relaxation and mindfulness in your everyday life as a mom. It's the little things we often don't make time for because we think they don't make a difference. But they do. The little things you can do for yourself with your child by your side make the biggest difference. Simply include your child in your relaxation moments and treat yourself to them more often throughout the day – not only will you benefit, but your child will too.

5 tips for some relaxation in your everyday life as a mom

  1. Single tasking: today, consciously make yourself a coffee or tea and take a few minutes to drink it in peace and quiet, without distractions.
  2. Write down three things you are grateful for.
  3. Take your child in your Rookie carrier and go for a walk, taking a few conscious breaths in and out.
  4. No bad feelings: take a moment to consciously acknowledge what you did really well as a mom today.
  5. Do something that makes you feel good and relaxes you: read a book for a few minutes, meditate, do three sun salutations, or take a nap with your child – without feeling guilty.

And most importantly: be proud of yourself. You're giving it your all as a mom, and the days are often long and hard. You deserve to take a breather now and then and feel good about it. Slowing down is the key to keeping going.
