Jennifer Lange on being a mom: challenges, insights & her biggest game changer

Hey dear readers,

I'm Jennifer, and my greatest adventure began six months ago when my son Anton was born. A day full of emotions – beautiful, but also incredibly intense. Seventeen hours of labor, and then I finally held him in my arms. But with his birth, not only his journey began, but also mine – in a completely new role.

I don't think you can truly imagine what motherhood is like beforehand . Only when you become a mother yourself do you understand what it means, how unique and challenging it is. The days get shorter, the nights longer, and you often ask yourself: "What did I actually accomplish today?" But the answer is clear: We are accompanying a little person as they discover the world – with our love, closeness, and security.

I've been a mom for 6 months – this is what I would tell all expectant and new moms.

Every day as a mom brings new challenges. One day you think, "Now I've got it figured out!" , and the next day everything is suddenly different. But that's perfectly normal! Change is part of the process, and over time you learn to adapt and stay flexible.

My biggest tip: Have faith in yourself! There is no "right" or "wrong" – there is only what works best for you and your baby.

Your attitude transforms your day: Every day is a surprise package

Especially at the beginning, every day feels like a grab bag – full of surprises. Some are wonderful, others exhausting. But the more we embrace the changes, the more flexible we become. Life with a child rarely goes according to plan, but that's precisely what makes it so special.

For a better mindset: 3 things I do every day

1. Let go of expectations – perfection doesn't exist. Every day is different, and that's okay.

2. Consciously perceive moments – Instead of looking at the to-do list, pause briefly and enjoy.

3. Accept support We don't have to do everything alone. Help from family or friends can take so much pressure off.

Why the Rookie is my game changer

Sometimes it's the little things that make everyday life as a mom easier. For me, that was definitely my Rookie baby carrier . Anton loves being carried in it – it gives him the closeness, comfort, and security he needs. And for me, it means more freedom and flexibility.

Whether cooking, going for a walk, or simply taking a breather – the baby carrier has made many a stressful day easier for me. And another big advantage: it helps not only me, but also my baby to calm down more quickly and fall asleep peacefully.

Many things are only temporary – you can do it!

The first few months can sometimes feel like an eternity, especially during challenging periods. But what I've learned is that everything is just a phase . After the rain, the sun always shines again.

Unfortunately, we often hear about what's no longer possible with a child . Far too rarely is it said how much a child enriches our lives. We see the world through their eyes, relearn to appreciate the little things – and grow with every new challenge.

Motherhood: Chaos, change, and pure love

Life as a mom is a rollercoaster ride – sometimes gentle, sometimes wild, but always full of love. We grow with our new responsibilities and should definitely give ourselves a pat on the back now and then.

Perfection doesn't exist – but love does.

There's no perfect plan, and that's a good thing. The important thing is to give yourself time to grow into your new role. Talking helps immensely – whether with your partner, a friend, or a midwife. No one can read your mind, so speak up about what's on your mind.

And most importantly: You're doing great. Even if it sometimes feels chaotic – you're not alone. ❤️
