6 tips every mother should read

6 Tipps, die jede Mutter lesen sollte

As a new mother, you face so many new challenges and emotions in the first days, weeks, or even months after giving birth. Besides the physical recovery of your own body, which needs a lot of rest and healing, you also have to care for a tiny human being and cope with the emotional rollercoaster that comes with all the changing hormones in your body.

Becoming and being a mother is the most beautiful thing that will ever happen to you, without a doubt! Becoming a mother means more than just raising a little being. It's about personal growth, it's about sometimes putting your own needs aside, and it's about learning to love and be patient with yourself—even on the really tough days! We want you to know that you are not alone and that what you are going through is normal. Here are 6 tips to keep you strong:

The sloppy look is okay!

Despite the dark circles under your eyes, the milk stains on your pajamas, and your messy braid—YOU are beautiful! Be patient with yourself and allow yourself to rest, because you've just given birth to a human being and you deserve to take in everything that's happening for a moment and enjoy this magical time!

Give yourself time

Little ones need us. This big world is scary for them, just like it is for you. You both learn so much from each other that it's okay if some days feel like nothing is going right and you feel overwhelmed. It will get easier with time, and you'll both understand each other better every day. I promise! 🖤

Mom knows best!

Mothers are often overwhelmed by people around them who want to give advice and tell them what they should or shouldn't do. Advice is often helpful, but you should know that you don't have to accept all the tips and advice. Stick to your own convictions and your motherly instincts—and do what YOU think is best for both of you. YOU know best—YOU are the mother!

Asking for help is good.

Receiving and accepting help doesn't make you a bad mother. If it gives you a moment to rest, sleep, have a hot meal, or simply learn something new, accept that help—it will truly do you good! If someone offers to clean your house or cook dinner for your family, accept it. Don't fight to do everything yourself—give yourself time to rest. It's so important!

Self-care is everything

If we don't feel rested and beautiful, how can we set a good example for our little ones? Eat well—and above all, nourishing food, drink healthy beverages and plenty of water, pamper yourself, go for a walk outside, or try doing some shopping on your own. Take time for yourself, too. You deserve it—you are worth it!

The moment is now.

Days, weeks, and even years pass faster than you can imagine. Today's struggle will be just a memory in a month. So savor every second of the day to enjoy the moment. Take lots of photos, make time for playing and cuddling with your baby, because these magical moments are fleeting. Time flies by so quickly, live and enjoy the moment!

We know that motherhood can sometimes be lonely, especially in these crazy times of the pandemic. But you should know that you have your own worth, and there are millions of women in the world who feel exactly the same way you do right now. Show yourself love and care, because you are doing one of the hardest and most beautiful things in the world!

With love,
a ROOKIE mom
